Failure as a path to path to growth

After having what, at least for me, were 2 of the best weeks in terms of focus, activity and DOING that I can remember, I have had some time - not to mention some genuine clarity - to reflect back and be very present. One of the things I have learned to value the most - failure. Something that I historically hid from is now a way for me to be transparent with myself and genuinely evaluate where I am today, right now and in this moment - the ONLY place to be.

Failure is common. Believe me. Everyone fails, that is merely fact. How we internalize it, however, is the critical point. For me, my failures have been, by and large, well documented: My ongoing weight loss journey, with its high highs and low lows; my diminished running capacity - self-inflicted, of course; and my failed 50K effort - a story for another time.

It took me a long time to realize that it is only when you wholly buy in to that which you are attempting to achieve - actually LIVE IT - and be willing to push yourself past your point of comfort - can you realize just how much you are capable of achieving.

Failures will come and go. Even the best athletes in the world fail, with frequency even. Staring, open-eyed at the effort we give, our intentions and our level of commitment to the journey are all huge building blocks to help get us to where we want to (and can be).

Namaste.
